Monday Memories - My First Sale on Zazzle

I joined Zazzle on Feburary 10, 2008. When I joined I added a few of my photographs to some products and then I purchased some clipart and did the same with that. I was new to the site and wasn't sure what to expect, but I was disappointed because of the lack of sales and kind of left my shop alone for awhile.
On March 14 I checked my email and noticed someone had purchased something, so I logged into my account to check it out. To my surprise I had sold 40 books of postage stamps somewhere in Oregon. I only had my royalty set at 10% (because I didn't know much about changing prices) and made a whole $21.60! It was only eight days later when I received my second sale, but for the SAME item by a totally DIFFERENT customer! By that time I was smart enough to change my royalty, haha.
I think that was the little motivation I needed to have me continue work harder everyday.
These are the stamps that sold (not my design, purchased artwork).

Hi Jasmine, it's nice to share memories like that! When I got my first sale email, it had 2 items on it, one was a rather specific item that I didn't think anyone would buy (a poster with a photo of a family pet) except family and yep, turned out it was my boyfriend buying it to give me encouragement. What a coincidence that on the very same day I also had my first real sale to a stranger! Later in time, I've sold another few copies of that first poster, I guess Corkey Joe is just so cute that some people can't resist him.

first off, great blog! congrats on your sales, keep up the good work. I remember selling my first card. I was so thrilled, i couldnt believe it. I guess that gave me the push that I needed and I just kept gong from there. But I remember the thrill. Dont tell anyone, even as a proseller I still get a thrill..lol

I joined in February 2006, and the first batch of sales I made came not long after that but... all those designs are now gone. I went into my image folders about a year ago and thought "there is NO way" and deleted all those older designs. They were awful, and to this day, I have no idea why anyone would buy them, lol. I know some swear by leaving the older, not-so-great designs in there, but I don't agree with that (unless you actually want to be known for junky designs, in which case, you should leave them up).

Artform - That was very sweet of your boyfriend. :) Maybe that's just what you needed to get the ball rolling!

C&C - Thank you. :) I do, too. I get excited whenever I see a sale.

Carla - I know what you mean. I've done the same thing. But there are some products I haven't deleted and sold and I'm like "What the heck, THAT sold?" I'm always in favor of a sale. :D

I am new to Zazzle but I made my first sale just the other day! 2 calendars and 1 mousepad all to the same person. I was shocked. It isn't anyone I know and not a familiar name from anywhere. I was so giddy! lol. Thanks for letting us have a chance to post about our first sale here!

SKH - Wow, good for you! I wish you many more sales! Hopefully this fall and winter season is good to all of us.

Hi Jasmine! Enjoyed reading about everyones 1st sales=) I've not been here too long, but I think it was about 3 mos. after I joined I sold 6 cards to someone. I was so excited, because I really never had my hopes up to sale anything for maybe a yr. lol My sales aren't bringing in a lot of money yet, but they're occurring more frequently now=D

That would be a motivational first sale. I have a few I remember like that too. I had forgotten that this purple tie was my first sale. It was on 4/22 from what I see today. I'd joined in late 2007 but I wasn't really working that hard at promoting. I didn't have my second sale until July. At that point I made that decision that I was either going to work at it, or stop all together. So, I started being active and been dips here and there but mostly good news ever since. Here's to hoping that the bigger sales become so common that we hardly remember them as they're just one in a hundred.
