Sorry I missed Monday Memories last week. With all the moving and everything else going on I was just too busy.
This week I'm going to reflect on when Dan and I would visit The Mounds ORV Area when we had our Jeep.
Dan loved that thing and he spent a lot of time and money on the thing before we moved to Illinois. I had a love/hate relationship with it. It was fun in the summer when we would go driving around with the top down or go to Silver Lake Sand Dunes (that will be another entry). I hated how cold it would get in the winter and I would often get tired of climbing in and out of it.
It was the everyday driver, but we had fun with it, too. When we had some extra time, we'd make a trip out to The Mounds to play around in the mud. Sometimes we'd go by ourselves and other times we'd bring along a friend or two. I have a few pictures from one particular day that we went. Don't forget you can click any of the photos to make them larger.
A couple pieces of advice I'd give to those who have never done this: wear clothes you don't care about, wear something to protect you eyes and expect to get extremely dirty. The two pictures above are of the Jeep, but you can see me standing up in the back. I don't even think those pictures show just how trashed the Jeep was. I don't think we ever got all the mud out of the interior. There was still mud inside when we sold it back in February. And the mud in my hair took forever to get out.
Dan got pretty dirty, too...
Despite the mess, we always had fun doing it. It's a shame we had to sell the Jeep, but when we settle down and have the extra money we'll probably buy another one or four. :)
