Procrastination

Yesterday was my (not so great) day off. I didn't get anything I needed to get done and it went by too fast. I did get my shirt yesterday from the contest winner, though. :) It looks great! I'll get pictures of it soon.

I had a nice sale this morning. 10 of these!

Now it's off to get ready for work.

Save the Date!

Want to Trade Blog Links?

I just updated my sister blog section. I had to delete a few because some of my "sisters" deleted me off of their blog.

If you want to trade blog links add me on the side of your blog somewhere, leave a comment telling me you did, and I will add you back. There's no requirement on the content of your blog. :)

PS. I won't be adding badges, just links.

Interviews

All the interviews for the winners are now on the Squidoo lens. Come check it out!

I Was Only Two Numbers Away

from $500 in Bingo tonight. I didn't win anything!
Better luck next time.

I think I'm just going to sit in bed all day tomorrow. And maybe do laundry.

I'm baaaaaack

This weekend was definitely needed. Our friend Andy came out from Michigan to hang out. I had the whole weekend off of work AND I managed to stay away from working on the computer.
I have a lot of work to do on the Squidoo lens for the contest winner and runner ups. I think I'm going to try and get some of that done now. After work I'm going to play Bingo tonight. Wish me luck. I could use some extra money!

Update on sales.

Vintage TShirt Contest Winners

So after all of this time, I finally got a chance to pick out the winning design.

And the two runner ups were

Here is an interview with the grand prize winner. Pictures of me wearing the shirt are to come.

Jasmine: So tell us a little bit about yourself. Who you are and where you come from. How long have you been amongst us on Zazzle?

Hilly: Born and bred in the medieval town center of Celle (Germany) which is the home of the Hanoverian horses (In 1735, George II, the King of England and Elector of Hanover, founded the state stud at Celle.),now living not far from there with my English husband after a brief spell of seven years living in England.

I started Zazzling in March 2008 - after trying my hand on various print-on-demand sites without much success since 2004.

Jasmine: Was this contest something new to you, or have you created vintage before?

Hilly: I have tried Vintage designs several times before, trying to re-capture old advertisements.
Everybody is making designs with "real" vintage ads - I wanted something unique!

Jasmine: How about other contests? Have you entered any other contests with a design you've made?

Hilly: No - I usually have little confidence in my designs and always find other designers art a lot better. This seemed a fun contest to enter, and I had several designs made but not published on Zazzle that fit the specifications!

Jasmine: Tell us about the shirt. How did you create it?

Hilly: For graphic designs I work almost exclusively in Paint Shop Pro - I do own Photoshop and several other graphic programs, but I like my PSP.

For this design I took a country style tube, added a blue vector background circle and a scroll, plus some vintage font text. The idea of blueberry pie appealed to me - and to think of a text for the ad wasn´t too hard. After all - I´m vintage, too and still remember ads in the 50s. To get the "used" effect I use the erase tool, and several different grunge brushes. I played around a bit until it looked good, and saved with transparent background as png file.

Jasmine: What challenges did you face while creating your shirt entry?

Hilly: When I created this design my challenge was to create the vintage, used, washed out look that is so popular. I had tried various methods before but nothing seemed to work properly. And then I read a tip about using grunge brushes with the erase tool somewhere. I never thought of that before - after knowing that it was easy :-).
After the success of this design - plus the fact that I sold a shirt with one of the other vintage designs I made that I didn´t enter today - I guess I´ll be spending some time making some more. They´re fun - and I like to have a bit of variety in designing for my shops.

Trust Pink, Forget Cancer

"For a part of a mini-diploma I have taken at school, I am required to raise £250 (yes, I'm English) for a chosen charity, in my case this is Cancer Research as it has affected me in several ways. I have started a Cancer Research brand entitled 'Trust Pink, Forget Cancer', like the well-known catchphrase of Vanish: Oxy Cleans, 'Trust Pink, Forget Stains'. I have made a whole range of products and hope to raise part of the money by collecting the entire profit I make from Zazzle and putting it into the fund." -- trustpink4getcancer

As you have read, she is trying to raise £250 for Cancer Research. Please take a moment to check out her store and maybe help the cause. If you cannot make a purchase, please share with your friends and family.

It's the End!

The contest just ended a couple of hours ago. Now I have a couple days to decide which is the winner. Here are the last two entries I received for the night.

Vintage Puppy

Here is an adorable sticker that would look great on the back of an envelope.

Don't forget matching card and postage!

The Weekend is Over :(

Yesterday was my day off with Dan. We hung around the apartment for a bit and then went looking around some stores in the mall. We got some grocery shopping done when I got off work today and then we went to go see Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs at my work. I thought the movie was really cute. And I still feel pretty sick, but I do feel I've gotten a little better.

I really have to take some time to get the apartment together before we have company next weekend. I spend too much time working on the computer. :)
Here are some sales I made yesterday.

I sold one of these

and 10 of these!

These seem to be really popular now.

These is less than a day left for the contest. Here are the latest entries.

Sick :(

Seems like everyone has been sick, and now I am no exception. Started feeling sick earlier this morning. Hopefully I will be better by next week. I have friends coming in from out of town to go to Oktoberfest and I'm really excited! And then I have the Brand New concert on Oct. 3.

Just want to give a quick update on sales.

Let's Talk About Stress

My head hurts so bad, I don't even know where to begin.
For starters, I dropped my phone in the sink while I was brushing my teeth yesterday morning and I had to go get a new phone before I went to work. I had an angry customer scream and spit in my face. I had to deal with the apartment complex this morning because they sent a paper about an eviction notice saying we owed over $1,000 but after talking to them they realized we only owed them $19.
I think I just want to lay down in bed all day. :)

Just wanted to share a couple more entries for the contest. The contest is almost over and I'm not sure who the winner could be. There is still some more time and anything can happen!

9/11/2001

I found these products in remembrance of all the people who lost their lives on this day, and those who continue to fight today for them. Thank you.
