Leaving!

Dan and I are planning on going home for the weekend. I got the weekend off, by chance, so we decided to just get out of here!

Not sure when I'll be updating again. HOPEFULLY will have my camera out at home. I have to enter JoJy45's contest, so I need to have my
camera on me at all times and ready to shoot something!

Adventure Day!

Dan and I had planned to go downtown today to see the Budweiser Clydesdale horses, but we had a change of heart and drove to Winnetka, IL to see the famous Home Alone house.

As you can see the house is occupied, and I didn't just want to get out and take pictures of the house so I just took a quick one while driving by.

Since Wisconsin isn't too far from us, we drove up there. We stopped in this town called
Pleasant Prairie to eat at Ruffolo's Pizzeria.
I thought it was some of the best pizza that I have ever had. It's a very nice little place. I'm glad we had left overs to bring home.

We continued driving into Kenosha and through some other towns around there. We parked and walked over to Lake Michigan. I'm still working on a few products on my Zazzle, but here's a couple of things I've made so far.

Speaking of that, I sold another one of these!!

Dan and I are getting ready to go see Public Enemies at my work. I've heard good things about it and I am pretty excited. I'll be back around soon!

Day Trip to St. Joesph, Mi

I never had a chance to update about this! Nicole, Steve, Dan and I went to St. Joseph, MI on 7/12 to hang out at the beach and swim in Lake Michigan. It was a fun day. We swam and we also barbecued. I got some pictures from then that I'd like to share with all of you.

Nicole and Steve in the backseat of the car on the way to the beach!

Dan and Steve cooking.

Me, eating. Gross!!

Nicole and I on the beach.

Dan and I.

Steve trying to barbecue a watermelon. We also buried him. :)

A Very Long Time

It's been forever since I've blogged or visited any of yours. Sorry! I have been so busy and it's been hectic. Not sure when I will update again because my Internet bill is passed due (among many others) and I don't have any money to pay it.

We drove back to Michigan over the weekend for our annual river tubing trip down the Au Sable River. It wasn't as great this year because the weather was cold and rainy. Nicole and Steve came with us. It was their second time in Michigan. On the way home on Sunday, we stopped by Iargo Springs and Lumberman's Monument like we always do. We also stopped by Oscoda Beach, but by the time we got there it started raining again! Despite the cold, my friend Andy and I still went swimming in Lake Huron. My camera doesn't work, but Nicole brought hers and I'm sure she will be putting a lot of the pictures on her Zazzle. I will post some of the products on here as soon as she does!

Here's a little update of what I've sold since the last time I posted:

I'm going to add a couple more posts with some (LATE but not forgotten) pictures.

Injuries and Stress

Getting ready to go to work in a few hours. I had work yesterday, but called off because I hurt my foot pretty bad on Tuesday night. I can't even walk on it, but my work doesn't allow for you to call off without a doctor's note. So, I guess I'll just go in and let them decide what should happen. I will probably mess it up more just being at work, but what else am I suppose to do?

Before I hurt my foot on Tuesday, Nicole and I ventured into downtown Chicago for the day. We came into Chicago through the
Ogilvie Transportation Center. I'm used to coming in through Union Station, so it was a bit different. We walked down to Michigan Ave. until we got to Millennium Park. From there we went and walked around Lake Michigan and then eventually wandered over to Navy Pier. After Navy Pier, we walked back to Michigan Ave. and walked the other way. While we were walking, we saw a chess party:

Before we got on the train to go home, we made a stop at the bathrooms and I saw this sign on the bathroom stalls:

Apparently they are dangerous.
Nicole took a bunch of pictures on her camera that I am waiting for her to upload so I can post some of them to my blog.

We got home around 8:30 and then I went grocery shopping with Dan, that's when I hurt my foot. I just bent it the wrong way in the store and now it's in excruciating pain. I'm not looking forward to work tomorrow.

Also, I haven't been keeping an update of what I've been selling in my store! Here it goes.

Sales from my store:

Sales from referrals:

And there is one more, but it won't let me go to the product.

Now if only I could increase my sales in order to get out of a stupid job that doesn't care about it's employees.

Buttons for Children w/ Special Needs

New line that I started working on today. Pin these to your child's clothing so someone can contact you if your child goes missing or if something happens to them and they cannot speak. All the buttons are customizable by changing the contact name, phone numbers, and your child's name.

You can see all of the buttons here. Tell me what I'm missing!!

There is a Squirrel on my Window

He's just hanging on to the screen! I tried to snap a photo on my cell phone, but he wouldn't stop running around. Maybe I should have taken a video.
Oh, and yeah... my window is dirty.

Weird Uses for Food Around the House

Did you know your food has other purposes besides satisfying your taste buds and filling your belly? How about erasing crayon marks with mayonnaise or getting rid of your ant problem with flour?
Here's an article I found on AOL Food that might help put those groceries to use!

Weird Uses for Food Around the House

  • Corn Starch- Your child just learned how to tie their shoes and the knots are impossible to undo. Stay calm and sprinkle a little cornstarch on the laces to help you work out the knot.
  • Peanut Butter- To get gum out of a carpet, scrape up what you can, using an ice cub to stiffen it if necessary. Then rub a small glob of peanut butter into the fibers, and wipe up the whole mess with a cloth. To get rid of any left-behind PB, just dab it up with a mixture of 1 tsp of dishwashing liquid in 1 cup of lukewarm water. (Thanks to DIY Life for the tip!)
  • Milk- Oh no! You forgot to put the cap on your pen and now there is ink seeping into your shirt. No worries -- just grab some milk and soak the area. Depending on the type of ink, this process can take anywhere from 30 minutes to 24 hours. Patience is a virtue.
  • Pepper- Everyone knows Clorox's catchy ditty about keeping clothes bright, but all you need is pepper. Add a teaspoon of pepper to the wash before you add in your clothes and it will keep the colors from fading.
  • Sugar- At your next BBQ don't spend money on anti-pest candles that never work. Simmer 2 cups of milk, a 1/4 pound of sugar and 2 oz. of ground black pepper for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Pour the mixture into bowls and put them where the flies will be attracted to them and then drown. You can also place around the house. No more buzzzzzing at the windows.
  • Soda- Next time your drain is clogged and you don't have time to run to the store for some Drain-O just look in your fridge! A 2-liter bottle of soda will do the trick. Just pour it down to clobber the clog.
  • Shortening- For a natural solution to diaper rash, try coating the area with a thin layer of shortening. It will act as a moisturizer.
  • Salt- Grease stains can be a huge pain when it comes to doing laundry. Before you wash, work a generous amount of table salt into the stain and then launder as usual.
  • Potatoes- Too much to drink last night and now you have puffy eyes? Apply a thin slice of cold potato to your eyes and leave on for five minutes. Then splash with cool water, put on your makeup (or just some moisturizer -- this means you, too, guys!) and head to work!
  • Oranges- Don't you hate it when you have to start a fire and little bits of newspaper are flying everywhere? Next time, air-dry orange peels, which contain flammable oils that burn longer, and use those instead of the paper. The delicious smell is a bonus.
  • Olive Oil- Does it seem like nothing is working for your bad skin? Use 4 tablespoons of salt and 3 tablespoons of olive oil to create a paste. Leave it on your face for 2 minutes and rinse with warm water. Then wash your face as normal. Use every day for a week and then cut back to 3 days a week and you should notice an improvement.
  • Mustard- It may make you smell like a hot dog, but rubbing a thin layer of mustard over your chest and covering with a hot towel can relieve a stuffy head and chest.
  • Mayonnaise- It's one thing when your child draws on the wall with crayons, it's quite another when it comes to your wood furniture. Rub some mayonnaise on the crayon mark and let it soak for ten minutes. Then take a damp cloth and wipeaway the mayo AND the crayon!
  • Lemons- Dandruff can be an embarrassing health problem, but the special shampoo often smells yucky. Try massaging 2 tablespoons of lemon juice into your scalp and rinsing with warm water. Follow with a leave-in rinse of 1 teaspoon lemon juice in 1 cup of warm water. Use this daily until your scalp is healed.
  • Flour- You have an ant problem but are worried about the poisonous ant traps around your pets. Just sprinkle flour wherever you see ants entering the house and along the pantry shelves, since they are most likely after your food.
  • Eggs- No time to hit the salon before your big event? Get your hair super shiny and conditioned with eggs! Take two beaten egg yolks and massage into hair. Start at the scalp and work in small sections. Then gather all of the hair in a shower cap, wrap in a warm towel and wait 30 minutes (you could cook the kids' dinner). Rinse with cool water and shampoo as usual.
  • Club Soda- There's no more worrying about drinking red wine on white carpet. Soak up as much wine as possible and then pour club soda over the area, making sure to blot and not rub. Repeat the process until the wine is no longer visible. You can also do the same for urine stains.
  • Castor Oil- While most of us associate castor oil with constipation or childbirth, did you know it can also help get rid of pesky moles in your yard? Just mix a 1/2 cup of castor oil with two gallons of water and pour the mixture down the mole(s) hole(s). Don't worry, the solution is animal friendly and they will likely relocate.
  • Butter- A jewelry box can help you organize, but sometimes those thin-chained necklaces just want to get tangled and you can't stop them! Rub some butter into the knot and lay on a flat surface. Then take a sewing needle to untangle. When finished just run under hot water to rinse off the butter.
  • Bread- Next time you drop a wine glass or break a plate, grab a slice of bread to help you clean up. After you pick up the larger pieces, press the bread over the area and it will pick up all the itty bitty pieces you can't see. Bread can also help clean fingerprints off walls and wallpaper. Just rub and voila!
  • Bananas- Before you throw your banana peel in the compost pile, remove any stringy pulp and use the peel as a buffer. This works with silverware as well as leather shoes and leather furniture. Just rub the peel over the object and buffwith a soft cloth. Be sure to test a small section of your furniture first!
  • Apples- Sick of waiting for your green tomatoes to ripen on the windowsill? Stick up to five tomatoes in a brown paper bag with a ripe apple and seal for a few days. This will speed up the ripening process.
So do they work or not? Leave a comment about your experiences and their successful or unsuccessful results.

End of Vacation

Came back from Michigan on Sunday night. It was a very relaxing weekend. I went to the craft show up there and bought a cute hair tie. I also went garage saleing and picked up these two old plaques with these old cars on them and on the back there is a stamp that states that they are U.S. Air Force property. I got them both for only fifty cents a piece and I plan to hang them up on my wall. Maybe I'll do it tomorrow, and then I will have Nicole take a picture for me so I can show all of you.

I wanted to share this post with all of you from a mommy blogger with an Autistic child. I thought it was very enlightening and had a great message. Please take a few minutes to read it, even if you don't have anyone who is Autistic in your life: Food for Thought, Courtesy of the Food Court.
